Soldering Jewellery (Silver)?

Hello, I am beginning to make bracelets to sell on the interent. I have everything I need to begin making them, but minus a Solderer. Im not quite sure on what one i need to attach all the jump rings and clasps together etc. Like, I don't know how high the Watt has to be or what type of Solderer I need.

I was looking on Google before and It has all this information about Open Flame solderers :S they sound really scary and dangerous. Then I was looking at Electric Solderers and they look much more safer, but apparently you can't use them on Silver because they can't be hot enough?

So, Can I use a Electric Solder to Solder jewellery and what type do I need?

Thank you so much if you can solve this problem.!!

:)

You may be able to use a really soft solder with an iron, but the open flame isn't really scary or dangerous if you know what you're doing. Find a class to learn how to do it.

I suggest it would be far better to look at Andrew Berry, a professional jeweller.
He gives instruction in plain English without sales patter.

How do we get “sodder” from solder

  • Hassie :

For not warning people that their hot coffee was hot if course its obvious but dont blame her for saying it.

  • Olene :

    The soding sodder already.

  • Anita :

yes it’s necessary, flux stops oxidation and you don’t want that, if the copper or any other metal has some grade of oxidation the solder will not adhere well and you will be left with a weak solder joint.
